Like most other homebrew supply shops, we find locating used soda canisters, so long the popular draft homebrew container of choice, at reasonable prices increasingly difficult.  We've been anticipating this day for quite some time - ever since all the soda companies dropped the stainless steel canisters in favor of the the throw-away mylar "bag-in-a-box" bags.  We are still able to find them, but at elevated pricing.  Even worse, we're finding the quality of the used canisters we do find is not as good as in the past. The "pretty" canisters were the first to go If you are interested in getting out of the bottling business and into the kegging business, we recommend that you not waste time.  We are also offering new ball-lock canisters, but, obviously, these still fetch a premium price.  However, we find that the prices of new canister to be coming down as more manufacturers get into the game, even as used prices continue to rise.  You would be well advised to keep a look-out for soda canisters and not miss an opportunity to purchase if offered.
